Navigate Life
From Lecture Halls to Hospital Wards: My Journey Through UK Higher Education
Hi there, and welcome to Brains and Bandages! My name is Jash, and I’m currently a final-year graduate medical student at the University of Manchester. Before heading north, I completed my BSc at University College London and my MRes at Imperial College London, so I’ve had my fair share of navigating some of the UK’s most demanding academic environments.
Over the years, I’ve been through the highs and lows of the student journey—late-night study sessions, clinical placements, juggling extracurriculars, and carving out time for self-care. This personal experience has shown me that succeeding in medical school and university isn’t just about hitting the books; it’s about balancing life inside and outside the lecture hall, building resilience, and growing as a person.
I started Brains and Bandages to share the insights, strategies, and stories I’ve picked up along the way. From practical study tips and career guidance to reflections on personal growth and well-being, my goal is to help you not only survive but truly thrive during your time at university or medical school.
Thanks for stopping by. Here’s to embracing the journey, becoming the best version of ourselves, and making every stage of student life a rewarding adventure.

“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful“
Through my journey as a medical student and university graduate, I’ve learned that thriving in education—and in life—is about more than just achievements. It’s about embracing growth, finding balance, and staying true to what inspires you.
Whether it’s surviving late-night study sessions, navigating the pressures of clinical placements, or carving out time for self-improvement, every challenge has taught me something new about resilience, discipline, and the joy of learning.
Brains and Bandages is here to share those lessons with you—to help you not just survive your university years but truly thrive, becoming the best version of yourself while enjoying the journey.
